SALIC and the Saudi Grains Organization Cooperate in a National Program to Reduce Loss and Waste

In the presence of His Excellency the Governor of the Saudi Grains Organization “SAGO”, Eng. Ahmed bin Abdul Aziz Al-Faris and the CEO of the Saudi Agricultural and Livestock Investment Company “SALIC”, Eng. Sulaiman bin Abdulrahman AlRumaih, SAGO and SALIC signed on Thursday, October 20, 2022 corresponding to 24 Rabi’ Al-Awwal 1444 AH a Memorandum of Understanding in the field of raising awareness to reduce food loss and waste in the Kingdom. 

The MoU was signed at SALIC’s pavilion at the Saudi Agricultural Exhibition between the Deputy Governor for Grain Affairs at SAGO Mr. Mohammed bin Ibrahim Alfawzan and the Vice President of Corporate Communications at SALIC Mr. Mubarak bin Abdulaziz AlDujain. The MoU aims to coordinate joint roles and responsibilities to support the National Program Initiative to reduce food loss and waste in the Kingdom, which is supervised by the Saudi Grains Organization. 

It is noteworthy that SALIC will implement an awareness campaign based on its programs in the field of social responsibility by referring to the religious, national, economic and environmental dimensions, where the rate of food loss and waste in the Kingdom is 33% at an estimated cost for waste of 40 billion riyals annually.
